Hi there! I’m Mia Mattingly, an LPC-Associate in Austin TX supervised by Lauren Masciarelli, LPC-S, LMFT-S. I center warmth, safety, and connection in my work; my clients are people who need a soft place to land, and need a therapist who they know cares for them and supports their happiness – especially if it’s hard for them to care for or value themselves. I am not a blank slate therapist. As my client, the hope that I bring is the hope that you know I’m with you, I support you, and will advocate for you.
I take a social justice oriented and deconstructionist lens to my work, and use systemic/ non-pathologizing lenses to conceptualize my clients. Humans all make sense; they use the most adaptive skills they have in order to survive. Sometimes, those skills end up no longer serving us – which is where we work together to construct new tools to replace what no longer works.
For more specific trauma-related goals or short-term therapy, I offer EMDR. As a modality, EMDR can be less invasive than other forms of talk therapy because it does not require you as the client to talk about what happened (though you are always welcome to).
