Three Years After Dobbs: TEA Fund Is Still Here, Still Fighting
June 24, 2025 — It’s been three years since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in the Dobbs decision, and abortion remains banned in Texas. But for the Texas Equal Access Fund (TEA Fund), that hasn’t changed the essential truth: abortion is still health care, and people still need access to it.
“In the face of cruelty, we choose care,” said Kamyon Conner, Executive Director of TEA Fund. “Abortion didn’t disappear after Dobbs. It just got more expensive, more complicated, and pushed further out of reach for those who need it most.”
We’re Still Funding Abortions—Because Texans Still Need Them
TEA Fund serves 110 counties across North, East, and West Texas, including the Panhandle. Every day, we help people navigate unjust policies, rising travel costs, and a hostile legal landscape in order to access abortion in states where it’s still legal. Often, we cover most or all of the cost of their procedure.
Even as lawmakers escalate attempts to criminalize practical support, one thing is clear: Texans are still getting abortions, and we are proud to stand with them.
Expanding What Care Means
Since the fall of Roe, TEA Fund has expanded beyond abortion funding. Our support now includes:
Therapy access for abortion-havers
PATH: A peer-led Post Abortion Truth & Healing group
Infant and child care supplies
Funding for STI testing, contraception, ultrasounds, and more
“This is what reproductive justice looks like,” said Deputy Director Maleeha Aziz. “We’re here for people before, during, and after their abortions. And we’re here for anyone let down by a system that was never built for us.”
Texas’ Abortion Ban Is Hurting People—Still
We continue to hear from Texans who are confused, desperate, and scared. The consequences of abortion bans are compounding—people are being denied miscarriage care, travel costs are skyrocketing, and legislation like SB 2880 threatens to punish those offering help.
“Our clients aren’t a political talking point,” said Conner. “They’re our neighbors, our loved ones, and they deserve better.”
