TEA Fund Statement on ICE Raids and Escalating State Violence
Across the country, we are witnessing a renewed wave of cruelty targeting immigrant communities. ICE agents are detaining people in horrifying conditions, tearing parents away from their children, forcing families to witness this cruelty. These violent, coordinated actions are designed to terrorize families, and they are working. People are afraid to go to work, take their kids to school, or show up for medical care.
In response to growing public outrage and large-scale protests, particularly in Los Angeles, the Trump administration has escalated its crackdown by deploying the National Guard and has moved to involve other branches of the military. These tactics reflect a dangerous consolidation of power that punishes dissent, criminalizes migration, and unleashes violence on marginalized communities.
As a reproductive justice organization, TEA Fund believes that the right to parent, or not to parent, must include the ability to raise children in safe and thriving communities. There is no justice in a world where families are surveilled, detained, or disappeared.Reproductive justice means fighting for a world where everyone, especially immigrants, Black and brown communities, and those pushed to the margins, can live with dignity, safety, and freedom. It means defending the rights of families to stay together, to speak out, and to resist authoritarianism without fear of violent retaliation.
We stand in unwavering solidarity with immigrant communities, protestors, and all who are resisting this wave of white supremacist violence. Many members of our TEAm are immigrants or the children of undocumented immigrants. We are of these communities, we serve these communities, and we are committed to sharing information, attending local demonstrations and protests, and uplifting the voices of those most impacted. This moment calls for action, accountability, and collective care—not silence.
