After HB2

The Day After the Ruling: What Can You Do?

This morning many of us woke up with heavy hearts in light of the 5th Circuit's decision regarding HB2. The court has decided that the state may enforce the law in its entirety, which today shutters all but eight clinics in the state. That means that people in Texas will have to travel farther to receive care, and it means that abortion procedures will have to be scheduled even later into pregnancies because of a very real lack of access. And this law doesn't impact everyone equally. While the court found that the law did not burden a "significant number" of people in the state, we beg to differ. We currently receive more than 300 calls a month requesting our help. This law will most heavily impact the poor, immigrants, people of color, and young people.

Today we wake up in a state where there is no healthcare equity.

We see people wondering what they can do to help. Texas Equal Access Fund is an abortion fund serving the people in the northern half of Texas. We help people pay for their abortions, and we advocate for the removal of barriers to abortion in Texas. We believe that everyone, no matter their circumstances, should have access to safe abortion, and we believe that without access there is no choice. Right now you can stand with us in a variety of ways.

There are a variety of ways you can help Texans as we face these enormous hurdles to abortion access. The TEA Fund and other abortion support organizations around the state are still standing and fighting, and we invite you to stand with us. We will not abandon the people of Texas to these laws. But we cannot do this without your help.
